Exclusive: Social Media Influencer Oluyemi Fasipe raises Funds in Donation to Health workers in the Infectious Disease Hospital In Ondo State

By Balogun Damilola

Oluyemi Fasipe, a social media influencer as well as a youth advocate in Ondo state took responsibility by using his Twitter handle to raise funds in donation to the health workers working tirelessly in the infectious disease hospital in Ondo state. Reports made it known to the good people of ondo State that their Residents Doctors  under the umbrella of University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital have embark on an indefinite strike to protest the non-payment of between three – six months salaries by the state government.

The angry Doctors made their grievances known on Tuesday 23rd of June, 2020 at a Press conference at the Ondo State Medical Science Teaching Hospital, Akure.

According to the Doctors, many of them can’t afford two square meal, some have to trek long distances to get to work, because they couldn’t afford transport fare while some have been ejected from their accommodation.

However, despite the fact that the health workers are yet to receive their stipends especially during this period of time, they still work tirelessly day and night just for the well being of every victim suffering from this novel virus #COVID19. This made Oluyemi Fasipe, a Youth Advocate of ondo State to take responsibility upon himself by raising funds in donation to the health workers in the infectious disease hospital in Ondo state. See his tweet below.

Mr Fasipe also said that the health workers put their lives at risk every day to contain the spread of #COVID19 in Ondo State. It is disheartening that no form of compensation whatsoever has been given to them for the past three months they have been helping us contain the virus. Let’s crowdfund to appreciate them.

At end of the day, after persuading alot of Nigerians via his Twitter handle , Mr Oluyemi Fasipe  was able to raise two hundred and five thousand naira. He also made it known to the public that he has sent the money to the CMD of Infectious Diseases Hospital (Isolation Center) in Akure, Dr. Busari. Mr Fasipe also appreciated everyone that contributed to the fund raised for the health workers.
