Member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Rep. Tajudeen Adefisoye has roundly disagreed with the recent statement made by the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola that Nigerian roads are not as bad as portrayed.
The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army posits that Babatunde Fashola is very far from the deplorable state of Nigerian roads because he has been busy flying around the country.
Adefisoye however, frankly advise the Minister to stop flying jets in the next 6 months, while he undertakes a tour of the six geopolitical zones of the country by roads to appreciate the crucible experience of hapless Nigerians on the terribly deplorable state of the roads.
He also urges Fashola to seek forgiveness of God and Nigerians for his deliberate downplay of the suffering and hazards being encountered by Nigerians daily on terribly deplorable federal roads. He further emphasized the that many Nigerians have avoidably lost their lives on federal highways due to extremely bad state of the roads.
The lawmaker also laments that not only has Nigerians been wasting their valuable man-hours while traveling on bad federal roads across the country, he adds that criminal elements have also been capitalizing on the bad and impassable federal roads to
kidnap, rob and kill innocent citizens on the federal highways.
He further posits that it will be difficult to pinpoint any stretch of federal road that is free from bad or impassable portions throughout the country.
Adefisoye, therefore, highlights a few of federal roads that are in terrible state across the country as follows:
i. Akure- Owo Road
ii. Ibadan -Oyo -Ogbomoso Road
iii. Owo-Akoko Road
iv. Biu – Gombe Road
v. Oyo- Iseyin Road
vi. Gboko -Katsina Alla – Zaki Biam Road
vii. Lagos -Badagry Road
viii. Asaba – Enugu Road

xi. Lagos – Sango- Abeokuta Road
xii. Gusau -Dansadau Road
xiii. Makurdi -Taraba Road
