By Balogun Damilola

Unionism; A student union refers to the umbrella association of students in ahigher institution of learning. Indeed, student unionism provides ample opportunities for Leadership training for the youths.
Politics was once referred to as “The activities associated with the governance of a country or area, especially the debate between parties having power. While
Political animal is further referred ro as a person who is interested in social and political issues, especially one who actively participates in politics.
ARISTOTLE once said “Man is by nature a political animal”.

Of the greatest Nigeria student!!!
The body that creates avenue for self development, and enhance positive leadership trait. COMRADES!
How come most unionist becomes political slaves. Prestige, Value, Dignity was lost because of money and connections. Yet our so called leaders keep trading our future for self treasure and we keep serving them. Where do we keep the olden moral?
Why do we allow money and invaluable goods to enslave the giant in us? Our liberty got imprison and sadly we lost the battle to this greedy so called leaders.
Wake up!
Nigerian should stop blaming politicians! Blame the Student Leaders (Unionist; comrades) why?
During political parties campaign, these so called comrades: Come and raids (Klepto jnr.) Campaign with all their strengt. Let them defend this. Tell me its Voluntary! We voted you in to fight for our right, but you emerged, fighting for your pocket. More to student Unionist, Let’s dispose the rotten, and spare the real activist.
Fellow students, these so called unionist during their campaign in various institutions, just to get your vote, they become so meek and lenient, let them emerge. Why do we rain curses on FG and State governmen, and not SUG’s or NANS itself? They ells our right at cheaper rate for Political Attention. There’s ni need for details, they know what I’m saying, and they are coming to counter this just to brainwashed you!
Aluta continua, Victoria ascerta
This phrase signifies “Struggling continues, Victory is certain,
Let us all fight against the evils amidst we students, before raining courses on the government
Unionist, What’s now your definition of STRUGGLE?
What’s your definition of Comradeship?
Now let’s go down memory lane, Students unionism began in 1925, I know they’ve not given birth to many of the so called unionists of today, it began with the emergence of west African students union (WASU), pioneered by some Nigeria students in London. The first president was a Nigerian, Ladipo Solanke. Then National union of Nigerian students (NUNS) which now turned to the good for nothing (NANS) now, was formed in 1956; with the late Ambassador Emmanuel Obe as its first national president.
Essentially, students unionism was characterize by robust debates, diplomatic manoeuvres, active or passive resistance to the oppressive tendencies of the college or universities authorities. Indeed, those were the vanguard of unionism, they were highly articulate, intellectually inclined and very dogged to the core. Now students unionism in this generation is nothing to take home. You think by just chanting “GREATEST NIGERIAN STUDENTS” shows you are actually struggling? The question is Are you delivering your service to humanity? Your forefathers, who created this union of a thing did not for once think of embezzling a dime; now the KLEPTO ALUTA SPIRIT in you is working auto anti clockwise.
Experience has shown that lack of understanding of rights by students hinders the attainment of the objectives of students unionism on campus. Back then, the leadership of educational institutions is empowered by the military to rusticate or expel any erring students union leader without fair trial. “EGUNJE or SETTLEMENTS SYNDROME” is an instrument usually employed to silence those that are too militant among students activists. But now that students union executives now follow the phrase “POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND” you are not now afraid of anyone; hmm… Corruption of the highest order, students unionists now turned out to be “TAX COLLECTORS”, Nigeria students; Lets wake up and stop been traded! We’re entitled to many benefits, that our union leaders are selfishly accommodating.
Now; cultism is the back bone of Nigeria Student Unionism. (students unionists) now that you lean on using your fellow students to count scores.
Most of these fact will be defended just to keep the buried truth. A vindicated students union cultists associates once said ” I am not a cultist, the vigilante only put the red clothes on me, and accused me of being a cultist”. Hmm… A Yoruba adage says “Àlùwàlá ològbó ogbòn a ti ko eran je ni”; which means “The ablution of a cat is a trick toardsbeef theft”. Yes! Tell me you don’t seek for help from Cultist during your campaign!
May God never forgive all Student Unionist who has brought us this wrath!
They also become threat to you, as they also work with these so called politician. You see how your dignity become rag. In fair game not to betray you so called politician Leaders and God fathers. You don’t talk while eating!
We’re not to tarnish the image or add blemish to the personality of COMRADES out there. But to remind you how far you’ve mislead us, due to your covetousness!
And to the student populace, be aware of this that they are representing themselves, don’t be brainwashed… Stand for your right!
Rise, don’t let the Labour of the heroes past go in vain…
